My guest today is Toby Storie-Pugh, a fiercely determined British explorer who combines his love of adventure with his desire to make a positive impact in the world
Toby has done a lot of things! Including riding a motorcycle from the UK to South Africa and back, co-founding Flying Kites, a charity that operates as a school and home for orphans in Kenya, and leading two attempts to get Kenya’s first climber to the summit of Mount Everest.
In 2020, Toby and his team will walk 3000 miles along the complete length of the Congo River, walking right through the center of the complex nation and sharing stories from the women and girls they meet along the way. The team is committed to shifting narratives of war, disease and humanitarian crisis, to raising awareness of the incredible potential that exists in the heart of Africa.
I wanted to bring Toby on the show to find out what he’s learned from his previous adventures and social work, and what he’s hoping to achieve with his latest adventure
